Abstract
This study aims to analyze student’s speech acts in classroom communication, with the objective of understanding how student at Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah utilize communication skills in speech acts,refering to the ways language is used in social contexts to achieve communication goals. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a pragmatics approach. The data consists of student utterances collected through classroom observation. The finding show that students use various types of speech acts. The study focuses on how students use speech acts to interact with lectures and classmates, and how these speech acts influence their learning process in class. It also aims to understand that communication differences in speech acts can be seen in, for example, the varying ways of communicating across departments, study programs, or semester levels, differences are also found when students communication with those from other universities. The functions of speech acts identified include conveying information and expressing opinions. Additionally, the situational factor of the relationship between students and lectures influences the use of speech acts. This study seeks to provide insights into how effective communication occurs between students and lectures in the classroom, to improve students’ understanding of communicative behavior, and to emphasive the importance of understanding speech acts in enhancing communication effectiveness during the learning process. The study can serve as a reference for improving the quality of student communication in education
