Abstract

This study aims to analyze the suitability of descriptive text learning materials with the characteristics of junior high school students. The research method used is qualitative descriptive through a literature study. Data analysis techniques were carried out by comparing the content of the materials in textbooks with theories of cognitive development and early adolescent psychology. The results of the study indicate that descriptive text materials are structurally adequate; however, the selection of objects for observation needs to be adjusted to students’ contemporary interests. The integration of more contextual visual media is also necessary to improve the effectiveness of descriptive writing instruction
